The Teacher of the Year Program (TOTY) annually spotlights the teaching profession and recognizes outstanding public school teachers at the local and state levels. The program is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education. It is a prestigious awards program to focus attention on excellence in teaching. Each school selects a teacher of the year. The following were selected earlier to represent their schools:
| Big A Elementary | Julie Turpin |
| Eastanollee Elementary | Carol Nascimento |
| Liberty Elementary | Amy Hopkins |
| Toccoa Elementary | June Bumgardner |
| Stephens County Middle School | Roy Bainey |
| Stephens County High School | Nathan Shack |
Stephens County is proud to announce that Carol Nascimento has been selected as the Stephens County School System Teacher of the Year. Ms. Nascimento is an exemplary teacher and we are pleased that she will be representing Stephens County.
All six teachers of the year candidates will be recognized at a luncheon later this year.
