The Stephens County School System's Special Education Department was recently honored by the Georgia Department of Education's Office of Standards, Instruction and Assessment for being a leader in the state of Georgia for outstanding efforts to improve the performance of students with disabilities. The Special Education Department was recognized for increasing the number of students who met or exceeded standards in Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics and for educating students in the least restrictive environment, especially young children. Congratulations to the teachers and paraprofessionals for their work to improve the education of students with disabilities.
